Why this site exists
Most free game websites fall into one of two camps.
The first camp has ten thousand games and two sentences of description for each one. You click through, the game loads, and if you don’t immediately understand the controls, you leave. There’s no explanation, no context, and no reason to stay.
The second camp writes excellent guides and walkthroughs — but then sends you somewhere else to actually play.
SnackArcade exists because there was no good reason for those two things to live on separate websites. Every game here comes with a proper written guide: what the game is, how to play it, the full control scheme for both keyboard and touch, and a set of tips that came from actually sitting down and playing it. Then the game is right there, one click away, at the top of the same page.
What you’ll find here
Games that load in seconds and can be finished — or abandoned — in ten minutes. Solitaire and Mahjong. Word games and number puzzles. Retro arcade classics. Two-player games you can play with someone sitting next to you. Idle games for when you want something running in a background tab.
What you won’t find: downloads, installers, browser plugins, forced sign-ups, newsletter popups before you’ve played anything, or games that were clearly built to sell you something else.
How games are chosen
Every game is played before it goes on the site. If the controls are broken on mobile, if it takes twenty seconds to load, or if it’s a shameless clone with nothing of its own, it doesn’t make the cut. We’d rather have three hundred games worth playing than ten thousand nobody finishes.
We’re also careful about where games come from. Titles hosted directly on this site are open-source or licensed for this use, and every one credits its original developer with a link back to the source. Games served through partner platforms are licensed through those platforms. If you’re a developer and you believe your work is being used incorrectly, please get in touch — see our DMCA page and we’ll respond quickly.
Who runs this
SnackArcade is a one-person project. That means updates arrive in batches rather than continuously, and it means every word on every game page was written by an actual human who played the game first. It also means feedback gets read by the person who can act on it.
If a game is broken, a control table is wrong, or you think we’ve missed something obvious, tell us on the contact page. It genuinely helps.
How the site is funded
SnackArcade is free and always will be. The site is supported by display advertising, which is why you’ll see ads around — but never on top of — the games. We don’t sell user data, we don’t run pop-ups over gameplay, and we don’t gate any game behind a payment. Details on what data is collected and how advertising cookies work are in our Privacy Policy.
