This policy explains what information SnackArcade collects when you visit, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

The short version

SnackArcade does not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal information. The site is paid for by display advertising, and advertising is the reason cookies exist on this site at all. You can refuse non-essential cookies and still play every game.

Who is responsible

SnackArcade is operated as an independent website. For any question about this policy or about data held on you, email privacy@snackarcade.com. We aim to respond within 30 days, which is the deadline set by both GDPR and the CCPA.

What we collect

Information you give us. If you email us or use the contact form, we receive the address you send from and whatever you write. We keep it only as long as needed to deal with the message.

Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard server request data: IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested, the referring page and a timestamp. This is used for security and to understand which pages are being read.

Analytics. If site analytics are enabled, they run in aggregate and IP-anonymised mode. They tell us that a page received a certain number of visits; they do not tell us who you are.

Information stored on your own device. Games save your progress, best scores and settings in your browser’s localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies in two categories.

Essential cookies remember your cookie choices and basic site preferences. Without them the consent banner would reappear on every page. These cannot be switched off because the site cannot function correctly without them.

Advertising cookies are set by third-party advertising partners, not by us.

When advertising is active on this site, Google is one of the third-party vendors serving ads.

  • Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to SnackArcade and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Google’s own policy is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies and cannot read them.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage is denied by default until you actively consent. The consent banner appears before any advertising cookie is set, and refusing does not restrict access to any game. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link in the site footer.

Outside those regions, advertising cookies may be set on page load in line with local law, and you can still opt out using the links above.

Your rights under GDPR (EEA and UK)

If you are in the EEA or the UK you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to processing, including profiling for advertising; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened.

The legal basis for advertising and analytics cookies is your consent. The legal basis for essential cookies and server logs is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@snackarcade.com. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Your rights under the CCPA/CPRA (California)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, under the CCPA’s broad definition, allowing third-party advertising cookies may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. To opt out, refuse advertising cookies in the consent banner, use the cookie preferences link in the footer, or send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser — we honour GPC. Exercising these rights will never result in a worse experience on this site.

Children

SnackArcade is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email privacy@snackarcade.com and we will delete it.

Data retention and security

Server logs are retained for a short operational period and then discarded. Contact emails are kept only while the matter is open. The site is served entirely over HTTPS.

Game pages link to the original developers’ repositories and licences, and some games are served from partner platforms. Once you follow a link off this site, this policy no longer applies — the destination site’s own policy does.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the “last updated” date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes affecting how advertising data is handled will also be surfaced in the consent banner.
