Play Brick Breaker Online — Free Arcade Game

Introduction
Brick Breaker is the brick-smashing arcade classic in its cleanest form: a wall of coloured bricks at the top, a paddle at the bottom, and a ball that bounces between them. Move the paddle to keep the ball alive, use it to smash every brick, and clear the wall before the ball escapes. The rules take ten seconds to learn, the difficulty ramps with every level, and each game is a short, satisfying burst of reflex and anticipation. Play it free in your browser with no download and no account.
About Brick Breaker
The brick-breaking format has been a fixture of arcades and home computers since the late 1970s, and it remains one of the most instantly readable games ever made. You understand what to do in seconds — keep the ball up, break the bricks — yet the simple loop hides real skill: angling the paddle, reading the ball's trajectory and planning which bricks to hit first.
Every level presents a fresh wall, and the ball speed climbs as you clear bricks and advance. Some bricks take one hit, others take more, and the layout of each wall decides how hard the level really is. The best players do not just chase the ball — they position the paddle so the rebound sends the ball where they want it to go next.
This version is based on an open-source brick-breaking game by igameproject, released under the MIT licence. It runs entirely in your browser with keyboard controls on desktop and works as a pure pick-up-and-play arcade experience. No download, no sign-up and no waiting for a level to load.
How to Play Brick Breaker
Move the paddle.
Use the left and right arrow keys to slide the paddle along the bottom of the playfield. The paddle is your only defence against the ball falling past you.
Launch the ball.
Start the level to release the ball from the paddle. It bounces off the walls, the paddle and the bricks, changing direction with every hit.
Smash the bricks.
Every brick the ball touches takes damage or breaks apart. Clear the whole wall to finish the level and move on to the next, harder one.
Keep the ball alive.
If the ball falls below the paddle, you lose a life. Lose all your lives and the game is over — the only way forward is to keep the ball bouncing.
Angle your rebounds.
Hitting the ball with the edge of the paddle sends it at a sharper angle than the middle, which lets you aim at the bricks you want to clear next.

Brick Breaker Tips & Strategies
Keep the paddle under the ball's line
The simplest habit that wins games: track the ball's path and keep the paddle beneath it. Watch where the ball is heading, not where it is, and the paddle will usually be in the right place.
Use the paddle edges to aim
The middle of the paddle sends the ball straight up; the edges send it off at an angle. Use edge hits to direct the ball toward the bricks you want to clear first.
Break from the top down
Clearing the top rows first opens up the wall and gives the ball more room to travel between rows. Leaving thick brick clusters near the bottom makes levels drag on.
Do not chase every brick
Trying to smash every brick in one pass usually leaves the ball where you cannot reach it. Let the ball work across the wall naturally and position yourself for the rebound instead of the hit.
React to speed, do not panic
As the ball speeds up, keep your paddle movements small and precise. Big, sweeping paddle movements overshoot the ball; small corrections keep you in control.
Plan the next angle before the hit
The moment the ball bounces off a brick, its next path is already decided. Read that path and start moving the paddle before the ball reaches the bottom.

Brick Breaker — Frequently Asked Questions
Is Brick Breaker free to play?
Yes, completely. The game is open source under the MIT licence and free to play here with no payment, no trial and no premium version.
How do I control the paddle?
Use the left and right arrow keys on desktop, or drag your finger across the playfield on a touchscreen. The paddle follows your input to keep the ball alive.
What happens when I clear all the bricks?
Clearing the wall completes the level and the game moves on to the next one, which is usually faster and tougher. Your score keeps climbing as you progress.
How many lives do I have?
You start with a set number of lives, and you lose one every time the ball falls past the paddle. Lose them all and the game is over.
Can I play Brick Breaker on my phone?
Yes. Drag across the playfield to move the paddle and tap to launch the ball. The game works in portrait and landscape on mobile browsers.
What makes the ball change direction?
The ball bounces off the walls, the paddle and the bricks. Where it hits the paddle — the centre or the edge — controls the angle of the rebound.
