Play Paddle Ball Online — Free 2 Player Arcade Game

Introduction
Paddle Ball is the arcade duel that started it all: two paddles, one ball, and the simple goal of hitting the ball past your opponent. The ball bounces faster and faster, the paddles stay small, and the score climbs with every point. Play against the computer to practise, or against a friend on the same keyboard for a proper head-to-head battle. It is the purest two-player game ever made, and it runs free in your browser with no download and no account.
About Paddle Ball
The two-paddle ball game is one of the most influential arcade games ever created, launching the home video game industry in the 1970s. Its rules are famously simple: keep the ball in play, hit it past your opponent, and be the first to reach the target score. Half a century later, it remains the perfect demonstration of how much fun two lines and a dot can be.
The game is played on a rectangular court with a paddle on each side. Each player moves their paddle up and down to intercept the ball and send it back. The ball's angle depends on where it hits the paddle — the edges send it off sharply, the centre sends it straight — which is where the real skill lives.
This version is based on an open-source JavaScript implementation by Jake Gordon, released under the MIT licence. It runs entirely in your browser, supports a computer opponent for solo play and a two-player mode on one keyboard, and offers the same clean, fast arcade loop as the original. No download, no sign-up and no waiting.
How to Play Paddle Ball
Serve the ball.
The game starts with the ball in the centre of the court. Move your paddle to strike it toward your opponent's side.
Move your paddle.
Use your assigned keys to move the paddle up and down along your side of the court. In two-player mode, each player has their own set of keys.
Hit the ball past your opponent.
Every time the ball passes your opponent's paddle and reaches the back of their side, you score a point. The first player to the target score wins.
Angle your returns.
The ball bounces off the walls and paddles at predictable angles. Hitting the ball with the edge of your paddle sends it at a sharper angle, which is harder to return.
Win the match.
The match ends when one player reaches the target score. Start a new match to play again, or switch modes to challenge a different opponent.

Paddle Ball Tips & Strategies
Stay level with the ball
The simplest winning habit is to keep your paddle centred on the ball's vertical position. Move smoothly and stay beneath the ball's path rather than chasing it after it passes you.
Use the edges to angle shots
The ball rebounds at different angles depending on where it hits the paddle. Edge hits send it at sharp angles that are harder for your opponent to reach; centre hits send it straight back.
Predict the wall bounces
The ball bounces off the top and bottom walls, changing its path to your side. Learn to read those wall bounces so you are waiting for the ball where it will arrive, not where it is now.
Do not overrun the ball
Small, precise paddle movements beat big sweeps. Overrunning the ball happens when you panic and overshoot; keep your movements tight and controlled.
Control the centre of the court
A paddle that controls the centre of the court covers the most possible ball paths. Let the ball come to you near the middle instead of chasing it to the edges.
Vary your shot angles
If you always return the ball straight, your opponent will stand still and block everything. Mix straight shots with angled ones to keep them moving.
